Bedroom Design Styles
Your bedroom is one of the most important rooms in your home, if not the most important, a private space where you can seek solitude. Make your bedroom your own by decorating it in a design that reflects your interests and personality, and you enjoy retreating to this place.
If a retro look that’s full of style appeals to you, consider decorating in an Art Deco design. This design style is comprised of geometric prints, eye-catching or neutral colours and materials such as metal, lacquered and inlaid wood. To create an Art Deco-inspired bedroom, start by painting the walls a pastel pink or turquoise blue with black trim. If you’d prefer to keep the wall colour neutral, white or beige are also options. Draw attention to your bed with an over-sized upholstered headboard. Dress the bed with geometric print satin or silk linens that complement the colour of the walls. For lighting, hang a crystal chandelier or crystal wall sconces. A mixture of light and dark lacquered or inlaid wood is ideal for furnishings.
A Little Bit Country
For a charming, comfortable bedroom, go with a country style. The palette for this design can range from basic primary colours to pastel hues. Add rustic charm with architectural elements. Hang whitewashed or light wood bead board on the bottom half of the walls or add wood beams to the ceiling. Wide-planked wood floors covered with a braided throw rug suit the design well. Display soft cotton gingham or patchwork linens on the bed. For furnishings, choose a brass headboard to go with one of these cheap divan beds with next day delivery. Place dried flowers in vases and a wrought iron lamp on the dresser or nightstand.
Turn your bedroom into a relaxing retreat using inspiration from the beach. Use colours that evoke images of the beach–crisp white, sea green, aqua, cobalt blue and tan. A headboard and dressers made of wicker or rattan are ideal furnishings. For flooring, use white or sand-collared tiles. Make the bed inviting with a white waffle weave comforter and overstuffed microfiber blue and green throw pillows. Accessorize with elements that are found at the beach. Make an abstract art piece by hanging driftwood on the wall. Fill bowls with beach glass, shells and candles.
